They Don’t Hear
You Coming.
Every other boat on this water runs a gas motor. Birds hear them and leave. A GoBoat runs nearly silent — and the basin carries on like you aren’t there.
Why silent changes everything
Every tour boat, jet ski and pontoon out here runs a gas motor. Wildlife hears them coming and moves off. GoBoats run nearly silent. Herons don’t flush. Osprey keep working the shallows. You drift into the marsh edge at three miles an hour and nothing reacts. That is the entire pitch — and there is no other way to get this close on the Carolina Beach Basin.
The basin is alive. You just have to be quiet enough to see it.
The basin sits at the edge of the Cape Fear estuary, one of the more active wildlife corridors on the North Carolina coast. Here is an honest month-by-month.
Come early. Watch the tide.
🌅 Go at dawn
Birds are most active in the first two hours after sunrise. Our standard morning launch is 10am, which is late for serious birding. Want the dawn window? Call or text and we will put a boat in the water for you at first light. In winter that is a civilized 7:30am start.
🌊 Tide matters more than time
A falling tide exposes the flats and concentrates the waders. If you are flexible on the day, tell us what you are after and we will point you at the better tide that week. No extra charge for the advice.
Bringing optics on a small boat
A GoBoat is stable enough to stand in, but it is still a small boat on open water. A few things worth knowing.
One or two adults, same price. No guide, no group, no schedule but yours. You get the boat, life vests, a five-minute lesson on the controls, and the basin. Want a naturalist along? We can usually arrange it — just ask.
Check Availability →Honest expectations
We are not a guided birding tour company. We are two people with quiet boats and a private dock on very good water. You will spot more here than from a kayak, because you can cover distance without paddling — and more than from a pontoon, because nothing hears you coming.
Book a boat
Pick your date and time, pay, and the boat is yours. No callback, no waiting on us.
